My Dog is Friendly! A Public Service Announcement
There is epidemic happening across the country and no one is safe. It’s occurring on crowded city sidewalks and spacious country walking trails. It doesn’t discriminate based on race, age, or economic status.
Innocent dogs and their owners are being terrorized, chased down the street, pinned into corners by…other dog owners.
But, you ask, don’t all dogs like to meet, greet, and play with other...

Tough Toy Thursday: GoughNuts
People who have dogs that destroy toys spend a lot of money buying toys that are supposed to be tough, but get ripped to pieces in less time than it took to go to the store to buy the toy.
If your dog destroys everything, it’s time to check out GoughNuts. More expensive than your average toy, they’re worth every penny, because they really do last. These super tough, solid toys are...

StubbyDog's Awesome Art Auction Begins Today! →
Just in time for the holidays, we’re kicking off a fundraising art auction with something for everyone: paintings, jewelry, ornaments, photographs, custom portraits, and more! Take a look, you’ll be amazed, and then…let the bidding begin!
dontworryyourprettyself asked: We have a mini aussie shepherd and he's going to turn 3 this december. But for the past 5 or 6 months he's been pooping in the hallways or the dining room! We take him out 4 or 5 times a day and try to make sure he does his business out there, but it hasn't been working! Just this morning my mom took him out, then 20 minutes later my dad took him out. They both leave to get dressed...

Soft Serve Dog Poop. Let's Go There Together.
I’ve been working with dogs for a decade - as a dog walker, shelter worker, holistic pet store clerk, trainer - so if there’s anything I know a lot about, it’s dog poop. I deal in dog turds on the daily. I literally know my shit.
And here’s what I want you to know: you’re not the only one who’s getting up at 3am to let your dog out to take a dump, even though...

Breed Standards and Individuality in Dogs. It's...
From Patricia McConnell, Ph.D. in this month’s Bark Magazine, discussing lessons learned from two Border Collies, one of which loved herding sheep in an open field, the other not so much: “It is a cautionary tale with two parts: One, dog breeds were created not for looks but for behavior, and we need to do a better job of matching a dog’s needs with the environment in which he or...

my response: So I was going to write something about how my one belief...

#trust30 challenge - days four through six
I moved on Friday, so there was little time to shower, let alone write something thoughtful, but I’m going to do a little trust30-lite-version and play catch up!
Here’s what I missed and my quickie answers:
Come Alive by Jonathan Mead
Life wastes itself while we are preparing to live. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
The prompt: If you had one week left to live, would you still be doing what...

#trust30 challenge - day three: one strong belief
It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. - Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance
The prompt by Buster Benson: The world is powered by passionate people, powerful ideas, and fearless action. What’s one strong belief you...

#trust30 challenge - day two: today in one...
Your genuine action will explain itself, and will explain your other genuine actions. Your conformity explains nothing. The force of character is cumulative. – Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance
The Prompt from Liz Danzico: Today: If ‘the voyage of the best ship is a zigzag line of a hundred tracks,’ then it is more genuine to be present today than to recount yesterdays. How would you describe...

My Doorbell is Broken and it's Staying that Way.
In the last two days I’ve watched (from the window in front of my desk) three different solicitors come up to my front door. I brace for the door bell which sends the dogs barking and scrambling down the stairs.
But it never comes. Then I watch the guys walk back down my driveway and leave.
It finally dawned on me that my doorbell is broken. That’s why the dogs are still sleeping...
